Prerequisites Requirements 

• Age 7-18 (as of 4/1/2026)
• Coding experience required or by approval:
  • Age 7-9: Scratch Beginner 2
  • Age 10-12: Python Junior 1
  • Age 13 – 18: Python 1
    
    NOTE: If you don’t have coding experience, no problem. Students can join the team and take coding class in summer during the Minecraft Cup.
• Minecraft Education Coding Class
  • If you have not taken a Minecraft Education Coding class, we require at least a 1-hour class or by approval. This class does not need to be taken before registering for the team or before the first meeting.

Minecraft Cup Optional Coding Classes
These optional 1-hour coding lessons give students an opportunity to work with coding teachers on their code projects, in a small class, away from a lot of the distractions from the team meetings.  Coding teachers will also teach new coding concepts see here for more Information.

Teams Ages 7-12

There will be at least two teams for ages 7-12, depending on how many students join. Team A meets on Tuesdays and Team B meets on Thursdays. Please choose the day that works best for your schedule. But after the first week we may need to move students around to balance out the number of students, put students with friends, etc. 

Team Ages 13-18

There will be one team for ages 13-18, Team C. Team C will meet on Tuesdays.
