TINKER GARAGE for KIDS
TINKER Garage for KIDS
What’s in a garage? Well, Microsoft, Apple and HP were all started in a garage!
Continue to inspire your young coder with our Tinker Garage workshops and camps. Suitable for students who have completed at least 20 hours of foundation lessons (Scratch Beginner I and Beginner II) or have prior coding experience (by approval).
Our Tinker Garage curriculum uses STEM based projects to reinforce coding skills. We also do projects that use hardware gadgets such as LEGO Wedo, Makey Makey boards, Pico boards, and more.
The Tinker Garage weekly classes meet once a week. The weekly classes are all self-contained lessons, so students can create their own schedule and work at their own pace. In each lesson, students will complete a new STEM based project or continue working on their own personal programs or games, with the guidance and expertise of our instructors.
See the Tinker Garage Weekly class page for info on curriculum, how to sign up, and upcoming schedule.
The Tinker Garage Camps are multi-day coding camps that focus on a particular theme, such as LEGO robotics, game design, anime/storytelling, and physics. In the Tinker Garage Camps students learn new coding skills and hone their existing coding skills, all while diving deep on a new technology or subject.
See the Tinker Garage Camps page for info on the different camps we offer, how to sign up, and upcoming schedule.
Tinker Garage Curriculum and Philosophy
What types of projects do we do in Tinker Garage? Fancy your child learning how to model Genetics and Probability in class? Trying to teach them what Projectile Motion is all about? How about understanding Osmosis and Diffusion via a simulated game? Our Tinker Garage classes incorporate coding with your child’s school subjects, reinforcing STEM concepts learned in school, and introduces advanced theories, made simpler with coding. Students learn the process of abstraction (distilling data to show only the relevant facts) and use coding to model real-life scientific concepts.
We also introduce themes based on popular game types (such as Car Racing, Pokemon Go,), core sciences (such as Physics and Biology), creative writing and art (such as animation and creative story telling). Students also have the opportunity to Tinker with Code, using our state-of-the-art gadgets (Pico, Lego WeDo, Makey Makey and more!)
Many Tech Giants started in a garage. Our space aims to replicates a home away from home – where your child can enjoy the experience and coding in a tech-immersive , fully-air conditioned “garage” environment. Want to know more? Read our FAQ on our coding for kids courses here.
