Step into the World of Programming

Specially designed for curious young minds who are new to coding / programming.  This course introduces children to computer programming, problem solving, and logical thinking. We believe in engaging children to be thinkers and creators through hands-on and project-based learning.

Students will design their own interactive stories, animations, and games using Scratch, a visual programming language.

Course structure

Sundays 13:30–15:30: 2 hours

Advance to the next Scratch Level

Level Up your Scratch skills: Scratch 2 is a natural progression for students to hone their skills from Scratch 1. Your child will be able to reiterate concepts with more challenging activities (practice makes perfect!) and realize their childhood dreams of building the coolest game or exciting blockbuster-like animation.

Combining game design fundamentals and in-depth programming knowledge, they will design their own animations and culminate in creating a project of their own during the exciting hackathon. Want to find out more? Check out our FAQs.

STEM Lab: Scratch coding classes are intermediate level coding classes that teach new coding ideas using a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math and Art) area of focus, such as LEGO robotics, game physics, game design, creative writing, Minecraft, and more.  Kids continue to develop new coding skills and hone existing skills all while exploring a new subject.  This allows kids to apply their coding skills to real, concrete problems, while doing something they enjoy!  Learn something new! And have fun!

STEM Lab: Scratch (General Class)
This STEM coding class has a broad focus which explores many different STEM themes.  This lets kids explore  different technologies such as A.I., augmented reality, game design, mathematics, computer science, music, and more.  The content for this class is always different from the themed STEM classes, so students can take the general STEM classes and the themed STEM classes, without repeating lessons.

Open Tinkering Lab

The Open Tinkering Lab is a supervised intermediate coding lab that is designed for kids to work on their own projects.   An instructor is present in the lab to mentor and supervise students.

If students don’t have their own projects to work on, teachers will help students come up with new ideas for projects to work on.

SCRATCH: ADVANCED (AGE 7-9)

FURTHER DEVELOP YOUR CHILD’S COMPUTATIONAL THINKING

In this course, students build on what they learned in the Scratch Beginner Class. Kids will learn more advanced programming concepts, build larger, more complex projects, and hone their critical problem solving skills. Concepts such as project planning will be introduced to allow students to experience creating projects from start to finish.

More advanced computational concepts will be taught, stretching and challenging students to think and apply what they have learned mathematically.  Ultimately this course will provide them with a comprehensive programming tool-set that is relevant for both schoolwork and personal hobbies.

The Scratch Advanced class is broke into two, 10 hour sections: Advanced 1 and Advanced 2.
