Minecraft Cup
Competition History
Coding Lab students have participated in the annual Minecraft Cup competition every year since it started in 2019! Our teams have won top awards like Best Coding Team in Japan, Creative Programming award, and the prestigious Tokyo Bad eSG award (twice!).
Coding Lab’s dedicated and passionate staff of expert teachers mentor and help teams of students from Japan and Singapore work together, organize, design, build and code their worlds.
Every year students, ages 7-18, push themselves to improve and do better and better.

2025

2024
We expanded our participation to 67 members!
During the Semi-Finals, students from Singapore traveled to Japan, just as they had done the previous year. These international participants practiced their Japanese language skills and collaborated with their Japanese team members to deliver presentations together.
2023
We continued to grow with a total of 51 participants, including members joining remotely from Singapore and other countries, making it a truly international collaboration in the online competition.
The Eco Village team advanced to the Finals and was honored with the Programming Award for their exceptional work. The Coding Lab Coder Mobs team received an Encouragement Award in Tokyo. The Coding Lab Pro Coders team received the Tokyo Bay eSG award and had the prestigious opportunity to attend the award ceremony in person with Tokyo Governor Koike.
2022
We expanded our participation by forming three separate teams with a total of 29 members:
The Young team was awarded the Sustainable Urban Development Award for their exceptional work. Several members participated remotely from Singapore or other countries, making it a truly international collaboration in the online competition.
2021
Our team participated with 19 members, combining our diverse skills and perspectives to create innovative builds within the Minecraft universe. We advanced through the competition and ultimately received the Creative Award at the final round, acknowledging our team’s originality and artistic approach.
The entire competition was conducted online, allowing us to collaborate remotely while showcasing our creative abilities. Our large team worked together effectively in the virtual environment, resulting in a creation that stood out among the competitors.
2020
There is no Minecraft Cup competition for group due to covid.
2019
MinecraftCup began in 2019, and we participated from the very first year. We were honored to receive the Programming Award in this inaugural competition. During this time, we held all our team meetings in person.
